Strategic Goals of the School of Computing and Software Engineering
In pursuit of its vision and mission,
and bearing in mind the strategic plans and goals of
the University System of Georgia and Southern Polytechnic State University,
the School of Computing and Software Engineering has set itself
the following strategic goals:
- Increase the number of CSE graduates to better serve the community
- Maintain high-quality graduate and undergraduate programs
- Increase enrollment of new students, paying special attention to high ability students
- Improve degree completion rates
- Establish and maintain new programs and/or new courses that meet demands for computing education that are not currently met by programs offered by CSE or any other providers of higher education.
- Increase the awareness of computing as an enabler of other disciplines
- Increase the visibility of CSE in the community
- Create an environment that empowers CSE stakeholders to better support the mission of the School
Note: The list of strategic goals was approved on November 14, 2007. The links associated with each goal and subgoal point to a rationale for the goals and/or a provisional list of action items.  Action itens are provisionally classified as being of priority level 1, 2 or 3 with 1 being the highest priority level. Some of the action items contain the phrase "Establish and Maintain" The term is used in the Software Engineering Institute CMMI sense and thus means more than a combination of its component terms; it also includes documentation and usage.
