KWAME NKRUMAH UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (KNUST),
 GHANA GOLDEN JUBILEE HOMECOMING

The Executive Committee of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Alumni
Association of USA, Inc. invites you to Ghana, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of
the university.  It is certainly going to be a great occasion and we would like to invite friends
of Ghana and anyone interested in joining us on this memorable trip.
You can spend a week with us in Kumasi while enjoying the wonderful sites and sceneries of the capital
city of the ancient Ashanti Kingdom.  Other attractions of the trip will include a visit to the ancient
castles at Cape Coast and Elmina, Bonwire, the home of the famous Kente cloth, a day at Lake Bosumtwi,
the largest natural lake in Ghana, and a boat party on the Volta River.

You will enjoy the luxury of some of our four and five star hotels that overlook the ocean, with swimming
pools, spacious bedrooms with fully-stuffed fridges, AC, free night entertainments with live bands and
health-conscious multi-national cuisine.  The trip will be crowned by a durbar of chiefs in Kumasi.

LECTURE SERIES

Golden Jubilee Lectures:

R.P. BAFFOUR LECTURES:

The Speaker should build his lecture around the Jubilee theme: "KNUST Its impact and challenges for National Development". There would be four (4) lectures in Kumasi, Accra, Cape Coast and Kumasi. The Speaker is at liberty to select his own topic for each lecture bearing in mind the theme.

ALUMNI LECTURES:

This had been reserved for the Alumni Association.

INTER FACULTY  LECTURES:

It was suggested that this could be part of the Faculty Week activities and that both staff and professionals in both the faculty and in industry could be invited to deliver some of the lectures.

DURBAR OF CHIEFS:

It was suggested that a durbar of Chiefs presided over by the Asantehene and his retinue, together with chiefs/queenmothers who are alumni of KNUST be organised on the Campus as one of the highlights of the celebrations to give the Jubilee a traditional flavour.

LONG SERVICE/BEST WORKER AWARDS:

There were suggestions that the long service award could, perhaps be merged with the durbar of chiefs but no conclusive decision was taken as to the merger.

ALUMNI CONGRESS/HOMECOMING & DINNER/BALL:

The Alumni Congress / Homecoming and Dinner / Ball would be left to the Alumni Association.
