A Fast Diagnosis Procedure for Automatically Produced
Small-sized Series-wound Motors

Abstract

After an introduction of the demands of a series production process and the used model of the controlled series wound motor the developed diagnosis method will be presented. It consists of the sequential estimation of the model coefficients and the determination of the characteristic curves out of the measured data of only 5 seconds data acquisition time. The extension of this diagnosis method is the determination of the rapid changing rotational speed during this data acquisition time utilising the current signal of the AC driven motor only. A central element is an accurate frequency determination based on a discrete spectrum of short time FFT transformations.

About the Speaker

Dr. Gerd W. Wöstenkühler comes from Germany. During his career he was member of the Siemens corporation, the University of Paderborn in Germany and of the University of South Australia. He worked several years on the area of diagnostic systems for digital boards and technical devices like motors or gearboxes. In 1991 he obtained the Dr.-Ing.-degree and in 1994 he became a professor for measurement, analogue and digital engineering at the Hochschule Harz in Wernigerode (Germany) where he is continuing his research work on the area of technical diagnosis.
