ABSTRACT
The colloquium presents results and lessons from
collaborative research into improving software practices. How are such research
projects organized and funded? What kinds of scientific contributions can be
reported? What are the major contributions to the participating industrial
partners? How can PhD students benefit from engaging in such efforts? And, how
is the interaction between practical problem-solving and academic research best
facilitated? The colloquium will report from an ongoing project in a small
software firm in Georgia and also provide an overview of results from several
years of research in many different software organizations in North America and Europe.
