ABSTRACT

The speaker will present the research background for content-based video retrieval and present the major accomplishments and potential applications. The key problems and techniques will be covered. Semantics-based news video retrieval will be described. A demonstration will be included in the presentation.

Biographical Sketch

Liu wenping is a visiting professor from North China University of Technology. Professor Liu received her doctorate from the Department of Computer Science, Fudan University in 1999. She then joined IBM and worked in the IBM China Research Lab as a staff research member. From 2001 to present, Dr. Liu has been teaching and doing research in the Department of Computer Science, North China University of Technology. Her research interests include digital image/video analysis and processing and pattern recognition. She has completed five key projects for the national and provincial science and technology committee. She has published more than 20 papers in journals and proceeding of international conferences.
